USYD renewed its partnership with arms giant Thales in 2022.Thales makes drones used by the Israeli military in Gaza and partners with Israel's largest weapons company, Elbit Systems.USYD Chancellor Belinda Hutchinson is on the board of Thales. The Faculty of Engineering takes funding from Thales for some of its projects and industry placements.
